Getting Down to Business: Working With Public Relations Professionals

Love ’em or hate ’em, we need public relations pros as much as they need us. Sure, they bombard you with phone calls while you’re on deadline and flood your e-mail with attachments. But they also secure key interviews, keep you up to date on industry news, and can come through with an image in a pinch.

So instead of groaning every time the phone rings, why not find a better way to work with PR professionals? ASBPE and the Public Relations Society of America are teaming up to do just that through a panel discussion Nov. 1 that will bring together PR pros and business publication editors to reveal tips and techniques for developing working relationships that are a win-win for the editor and the PR professional.

This is your chance to ask questions of PR people and gain a better understanding of how they target the media--and how you can help PR pros do a better job of targeting and working with editors in your industry. You’ll also have the opportunity to make your own suggestions to PR attendees about the best ways to contact B2B editors.

This unique event will give Washington-area business editors and PR pros a rare opportunity to network and share best practices that will benefit all communications professionals.

Panelists:
--Shane Boyd, VP of corporate communications, Travelers Insurance
--Robert Freedman, senior editor, Realtor magazine, National Association of Realtors
--Lisa Throckmorton, senior VP, SheaHedges Group
--Gina Veazey, editor, The NACS Magazine, National Association of Convenience Stores
